Congress demands white paper on central scheme implementation
Bhubaneswar, Nov 07 (UNI) AICC General Secretary V Narayan Swamy today demanded a white paper on the implementation and utilisation of various central sponsored schemes in Orissa.
Mr Swamy, in-charge of Orissa affairs, told newsmen here that the Congress Legislature party would adopt a resolution to demand white paper in the coming winter session of the Assembly.
He said the Congress leaders from Orissa had met Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and demanded the review of all the Central-sponsored schemes and utilisation of Central funds.
Mr Swamy said a Central team is curently visiting various districts to review the implementation of Indira Awas Yojana, Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and Rajiv Vidyatkaran Yojana in the state.
On the killing of South and Western Range DIG Jaswinder Singh, the AICC secretary said the matter be investigated by CBI in the wake of the conflicting report circulated by the state government on the murder of the police officer.
Mr Swamy said the killing of the DIG and the stampede in Puri Jagannath temple clearly stated that the law and order machinery in the state has failed.
He demanded that the judicial inquiry ordered into the stampede in Jagannath Temple be completed within a timeframe.
