Villagers fish out bodies of two girls
Kendrapada, Nov 06 (UNI) The bodies of two girls drowned in the Jatadhari river yesterday on the kartik purnima day,were retrieved by the villagers of Nuagaon, about 60 km from here today.
Kujanga Police station Officer-In-Charge Amarendra Panda said the deceased were identified as Sukanti Padhiary (19) and Minarani Sahu (20). Both were the residents of Nuagaon village.
On the eve of Kartika Purnima day, the residents of Nuagaon had gathered on the river bank of Jatadhari to sail away their tiny boats and take a holy dip in the river.
The two girls, who also thronged the river bank to sail their boat and to take a dip, drowned while taking a dip in the river.
Later, fire tenders were pressed into the services, but they failed to retrieve the bodies from the river.
Some villagers of Nuagaon, however, fished out the bodies after they noticed them floating. Police later arrived at the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.
