UCC chief sugarcoats bitterness over factionalism

Dehra Dun, Nov 6 (UNI) Uttaranchal Congress Committee Chief Harish Rawat has said though a section of the party did not support his bid to become Chief Minister, he was committed to the party and will strive to bring it back to power in the state.

Mr Rawat told UNI that the group, which was responsible for creating the circumstances during last assembly elections in 2002 which prevented him from becoming Chief Minister.

When asked about the Congress National General Secretary Motilal Vohra's meeting with Chief Minister Narain Dutt Tiwari, the UCC chief said he was not bothered.

When asked about the poll prospects of the Congress, Mr Rawat said he along with the party workers will work to ensure a resounding win but added the Chief Minister himself must go among the public to canvass support.
