Two drown in Narmada canal in Guj

Anand, Gujarat, Nov 6 (UNI) Two people drowned when they accidentally slipped into Narmada canal near Lasundra village in Kheda district, about 45 km from here, this morning.

According to police sources here, the incident took place around 0600 hrs when the duo accompanied by few others had gone to the Narmada canal to wash their feet. However, the duo accidentally slipped and fell into the canal and drowned.

The group, hailing from Moti-Sankhiyad village, about 55 km from here, was returning from the famous Bhathiji temple at Fagvel village in Kheda district after performing a pooja there.

Later the bodies of the deceased -- Suresh Laxman Solanki and Jagdish Bhailal Solanki -- were fished out by the fire brigade personnel of Nadiad and Mehmdavad towns.

Police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
