Suspended IGP surrenders after more than a year
Ranchi, Nov 6 (UNI) Suspended Jharkhand Inspector General of Police P S Natarajan, absconding for more than a year, today surrendered before a court here which remanded him in judicial custody.
Mr Natarajan, who had been accused of exploiting a tribal woman, surrendered in the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Anil Kumar Chaudhury while moving a bail petition.
The court, while sending the suspended IPS officer to jail, will, however, hear the petition tomorrow.
On July 31 last year, a private television channel had run a story showing the then IGP in a 'compromising position' with a tribal woman.
The woman later alleged that Natarajan had forced himself on her.
The IPS officer had immediately gone underground and the court declared him an absconder.
Raids were conducted in several places, including in Uttar Pradesh.
