SPO, 2 militants killed, exfiltration bid foiled in J and K
Srinagar, Nov 6 (UNI) A Special Police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police and two militants were killed and three others, including a jawan of Indian Reserve Police (IRP) were injured while troops foiled yet another ex-filtration bid when in the state overnight.
Security forces arrested a militant and busted a hideout in the state during the period, an official spokesman said.
He said militants shot dead a SPO Zaffar at Nalwa Naullah in Doda district of Jammu region today. Militants later managed to escape.
A jawan of IRP was injured when militants attacked a patrol party in north Kashmir last night.
He said security forces gunned down two militants Ghulam Mohammad and Reyaz Ahmad in an encounter ensued at Phigsoo in Doda district last night after a search party was attacked by the militants. Two ak rifles, one kg of RDX and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
Militants fired on a patrol party at Kulangam Handawara in the frontier district of Kupwara last night. Security forces returned fire. An IRP jawan Nazir Ahmad was injured in the encounter, the sources said.
Later, reinforcements were rushed to the area from nearby army camps.
However, the militants managed to escape, sources said.
