Shivraj Patil to conduct aerial survey in flood-hit areas
Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) Union Home Minister and Disaster Management Committee Chairman Shivaraj Patil would visit flood-hit areas of Andhra Pradesh and interact with people and officials tomorrow.
Mr Patil would arrive at Gannavaram Airport in Krishna District at 1030 hrs and leave for an aerial survey of the severely hit Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham districts along with Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. At Chirala in Prakasham district and Machilipatnam in Krishna district he would interact with flood-affected people.
He would come back to Hyderabad at 1730 hrs and inspect a photo exhibition at Begumpet airport. He would also have a review meeting with officials there, before leaving for New Delhi.
Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said the government would give an interim report to the Union Minister and seek immediate help of Rs 1450 crore. He said the report was only based on temporary assessment as actual damage was yet to be ascertained.
Stagnant water had not yet receded and proper enumeration was so far not possible.
