SC court paramount, sealing order will be implemented: GoM
New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) The Group of Ministers on sealing today said that the Supreme Court order was ''paramount and binding'' and the government had no option but to implement it.
Terming the situation ''difficult'', Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said the government was aware of its Constitutional obligation and would implement the order. Meanwhile, the GoM has decided to put the issue for discussion before the Union Cabinet where it would be discussed in detail to find a solution.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Monitoring Committee would start the sealing operations to implement the Supreme Court order. Under Article 141 and 144 of the constitution, all authorities in the country will act in compliance with the orders and directions of the Supreme Court.
On what kind of relief the government was planning to give to over 44,000 traders who would face the sealing from tomorrow, Mr Reddy said the MCD, Delhi Government and the Urban Development Ministry went a number of times to apprise the Supreme Court of the issue, but with today's order the difficulties have arisen.
Asked whether the sealing operation would start from tomorrow, Mr Reddy said that has to be asked from MCD which is the implementing agency. Regarding the possibility of the law and order problem, the Minister said why it should be apprehended.
When it was pointed out that his government has expressed its inability to conduct sealing fearing law and order problem, Mr Reddy said, ''Whatever we had to say we said it before the Supreme Court.
I do not want to repeat it.'' However, the government did not apprehend any law and order problem, he added.
