Recruitment of waiting list candidates as contract teachers soon

Bhopal, Nov 6 (UNI) In a respite to candidates in the waiting list for appointment as contract teachers in Madhya Pradesh, School Education Minister Narottam Mishra today informed the assembly that candidates, who cleared scrutiny of their marksheets to verify their eligibility criteria, will soon be recruited as contract teachers.

He made the announcement while replying to a question by senior Congress leader and former School Education Minister Indrajeet Kumar during the Question Hour.

Mr Kumar sought information on the number of vacancies for class I, II and III contract teachers in the state and the reasons for the posts lying vacant.

Earlier replying to the question, Minister of State for School Education Paras Jain informed that 583 posts for class I, 1,063 posts for class II and 2,238 for class III positions were vacant and recruitments were being made through counselling.

Mr Kumar pointed out that several candidates were successful from more than one places whereas few ohters had joined duty at more than one place.

He said candidates featuring in waiting list must be given appointment at places where the selected candidate has been absent for a long time and added that subject-wise dearth of contract teachers was affecting studies in schools.

Intervening in the debate, Mr Mishra described Mr Kumar's concern as appropriate but said his department was working in this direction and 10,000 contract teachers have been appointed within a month.

However, he admitted, difficulties were being faced in some places. Besides, in order to meet with the scarcity of teachers, an arrangement for guest faculty had been made, he added.
