President to inaugurate 'InCite 2006' on Nov 15

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) Construction Industry Development Council of India (CIDC) today announced that President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate its conference on IT in design and construction 'InCite 2006' to be held on November 15 here.

The council wishes to bring a sea change in construction industries by bringing IT for better designing, planning and saving time and money.

''The main aim of this confernce is to bring a quantum improvement in the efficiency of construction and to bring IT which will help us in better designing, planning, controllig time and money, etc,'' CIDC Chairman Uddesh Kohli told reporters here.

He said, for a number of years now, the construction industries across the globe have been trying to find ways of exploiting the modern information and communication technologies (ICTs) for increasing efficiency and enhance productivity.

'InCite 2006' will be a collaborative effort among CIDC, the apex organisation representing construction industry in India, Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, Salford University, England and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

InCite is a biennial congress of leading organisations across the world involved in the process of developing technologies and IT solutions for the construction industry.

The conference is held every two years, the last being held in Malaysia in 2004.

Founded by the Planning Commission, Government of India, together with the construction industry, it has among its 85 members five ministers, 23 PSUs, 31 construction companies besides financing bodies, 10 associates and others.
