PM congratulates Brazil Prez on re-election

New Delhi, Nov 6: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today called up Brazilian President Lula Inacio Lula da Silva and congratulated him on his recent re-election as the President.

The Prime Minister also renewed his invitation to the Brazilian President to visit India, official said.

The Brazilian President won a landslide re-election in a runoff vote on Sunday. He was elected President in 2003.

The Prime Minister had recently travelled to Brasilia for the first India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Summit with the Brazilian President Lula Da Silva and South African President Thabo Mbeki.

He had invited the Brazilian President to India during the IBSA Summit.

It was one of the election promises of the Brazilian leader that he would forge ties with India and other countries of the South.
