Pak terror link: police officer, postman held
Kozhikode, Nov 6 (UNI) A Kerala police officer and postman were arrested for allegedly helping a suspected Pakistani terrorist to procure an Indian passport, a top police officer today said.
Crime Detachment Assistant Commissioner V Chandran said Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammedali of Arikkode Police station and postman Abdul Latheef of Kavannur post office, both in Malappuram district, were arrested last night for allegedly helping Al-Badr terrorist Mohammad Fahd to procure a passport.
Mr Chandran, who was heading the team probing Fahd's alleged links in Kozhikode and neighbouring Malappuram said interrogation was on to find out whether the ASI helped the terrorists without properly verifying information given in the application.
Police were also investigating the role of the postman, who allegedly delivered the passport to Fahd on an address that was not mentioned in the document, he said.
Fahd, alon gwith another suspected terrorist, was arrested in Mysore on October 26 while allegedly plotting an attack on Karnataka Vidhan Sabha building in Bangalore.
