Opp Congress demands CM's resignation
Gangtok, Nov 6 (UNI) Chief Minister Pawan Chamling should either arrest persons indulging in divisive politics or step down, Congress, the main opposition party in Sikkim, today said.
Addressing a function organised to release a booklet 'Congress Sandesh' to expose alleged corruption during Mr Chamling's rule, Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Narbahadur Bhandari said the chief minister, who also heads the Home department, should arrest those indulging in divisive politics or resign.
''Sikkim is a sensitive state from security point of view and shares its border with four countries. Hence those indulging in divisive politics should be arrested,'' he opined.
Mr Chamling, during his speech at a function organised to observe the Sanklap Diwas on October 31 here, had reportedly said that leaders of Sikkim Bhutia-Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC) and Gorkha Prajatanta Party were induligng in divisive politics which might lead to growth of terrorism in the state.
