NPMHR demands probe into allegation on Naga IRB
Kohima, Nov 6 (UNI) Condemning allegations of Human Rights violation by the Naga India Reserve Battalion (NIRB) personnel in Chhattishgarh, the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) asked the Independent Investigating Committee to investigate the matter.
NPMHR general secretary Nepuni Piku and convenor Lanu Sashi said they condemned the alleged killing of innocent civilians and destruction of villages through burning and forceful relocation to camps along with butchering of domestic animals in Chhattisgarh by the Naga IRB soldiers.
Mr Piku and Sashi in a release here today expressed their solidarity with the affected communities in Chhattisgarh.
The release also questioned the NIRB personnel's alliance with the Salwa Judum.
The NPMHR wondered how the state leadership could allow the IRB personnel to work with ''criminal elements.'' The NPMHR further said the allegations would have serious socio-cultural and political implications on the Nagas.
