MNF will not like to see Hawla in jail: Mizo CM

Aizawl, Nov 6 (UNI) Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga reiterated that his party Mizo National Front (MNF) would not like to see opposition Congress leader Lalthan Hawla in jail on ''corruption charges''.

Addressing a public rally here Mr Zoramthanga said, ''Since the Congress is our biggest political opponent, people may have wrong ideas that the MNF will like to see opposition leader to go to jail.

We would not like to see other states pointing fingers at Mizoram for this issue.'' He said the MNF had no role in the Public Interest Litigation(PIL) which prompted corruption charges against the Congress leader.

Mr Zoramthanga said his government had kept the investigation of Lalthan Hawla on hold after they came to power in 1998 and intended to pursue it.
