MEG Bangalore thrash local Shastri club 6-1 in Durand Cup opener

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) MEG Bangalore thrashed local challengers Shastri Club 6-1 while J&K Bank beat AOC, Secunderabad 2-1 on the opening day of the qualifying round of the 119th Osians Durand cup football tournament here today.

In a one-sided match, the military side from Bangalore toyed with their rivals from the beginning with quick passes and showing consistency in their attack.

Bipin Thapa (8th, 32nd minutes), Nigilraj (18th, 27th) and Jiten Meetei (44th), Depin Thapa (71st) were the scorers for the winners while the lone goal for the local outfit came from Obed Kumar in the 19th minute.

Earlier, J&K Bank dominated the proceedings throughout the match and led 1-0 at the breather from a goal by Amrit Paul Singh in the 38th minute.

Mohammad Moazzam made it 2-0 in the 55th minute for J&K. The Secunderabad side pulled one back just before the final whistle through DK Mahtto.
