Mavalankar shooting meet begins

Asansol, Nov 6 (UNI) Altogether 1500 shooters from across the country will be seen in action in the 10-day 16th All India C V Mavalankar shooting meet that began here today.

Earlier, the 39th West Bengal state competition concluded at the same venue where 183 shooters from 44 clubs of five associations participated.

Septuagenarian Dr Kalyan Banerjee won four gold and a silver medals in the Bengal meet. She is also participating in the current meet and representing the state.

In all 45 shooters from Bengal will take part in the C V Mavalankar championship.

West Bengal sports minister Subhas Chakravarty inaugurated the meet yesterday.
