Iraq to lift curfew tomorrow morning

BAGHDAD, Nov 6 (Reuters) A curfew in Baghdad and other areas in Iraq to prevent an insurgent backlash against a court ruling that Saddam Hussein should hang will be lifted tomorrow, the prime minister's office said today.

It said vehicles will be allowed back in the streets of the capital at 0830 IST. Pedestrians are free to travel immediately in Baghdad.

Heavy curfews in Baghdad and other areas mostly kept down violence yesterday and today after the Iraqi High Tribunal convicted Saddam Hussein of crimes against humanity and sentenced him to death by hanging. There had been fears a guilty verdict would unleash violence.
