ICICI to start a micro-financing project in Mizoram

Aizawl, Nov 06: ICICI Bank Ltd has taken up a micro-financing project with the self-help groups (SHG) in Mizoram.

Collaborating with the Sacred Heart Society, ICICI has commenced micro-savings along with the micro-financing in the state for the benefit of the poor.

Sacred Heart Society project coordinator Vanlalhmuaka said here today claimed that ICICI Bank would contribute a huge amount towards alleviating poverty in the state under the new venture.

Talking about the joint venture, Mr Vanlalhmuaka said the society has initiated micro-financing two or three years back but had run into difficulties because of lack of financial resources.

A number of SHGs and individual entrepreneurs received the micro-financing scheme's first installment today, he added.
