Five nabbed for betting on West Indies-Australia final match
Surat, Nov 6 (UNI) Five people were arrested from an apartment in Amroli area of the city in Gujarat for betting on the Champions Trophy final cricket match between Australia and West Indies last night.
According to Detection of Crime Branch police, the accused were found placing bets at a flat in Chandanwala apartment on the match at Brabourne stadium in Mumbai.
Police have seized a television a laptop 19 mobile phones and some money from their possession.
A case has been registered under the Gambling Act, police said.
The arrested were identified as Nikesh Desai, Alkesh Shah, Anand Punjabi, Umesh Kapadia and Shashikant Bharti.
However, the key-accused, Prakash Wadilal Shah, is still at large, police said.
