Danish company to set up research centre

Kolkata, Nov 6 (UNI) A Denmark-based company will set up an IT research laboratory near the city to introduce new products in mobile phone industry.

Officials of Wireless Innovative Platform, the company proposing to set up the project, met Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and IT Minister Debesh Das at the Writers Building today to discuss details of the research centre.

" We are going to set up the centre at Rajarhat near the city over 20 acres of land involving an estimated expenditure of Rs. 200 crore. I expect the construction to start by March, next year," company Chairman R Prasad told reporters.

Later, the Chief Minister said the name of the proposed research centre would be 'Wiplab'.

The research at the centre would be aimed at finding out product concepts in various areas of high technology in mobile telephony and the products would be sold to different mobile phone manufacturing companies, Mr Prasad said.
