Bangalore, Mysore Govt medical colleges to become autonomous

Bangalore, Nov 6 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has planned to accord autonomous status to its medical collegas in Mysore and Bangalore, Medical Education Minister V S Acharya said today.

Talking to reporters here, he said autonomous status would be given to the Government dental college in the city and a circular would be issued in this regard soon.

Dr Acharya said that with this status, the colleges need not go through the laborious bureaucratic process for conducting their day-to-day administration works.

All the six new medical colleges - Belgaum, Hassan, Mandya, Shimoga, Bidar, Raichur - have been given autonomous status, the Minister said, adding that while the colleges in Belgaum, Hassan and Mandya have begun functioning from this year, the remaining three would start from next year.

The Government had given autonomous status to its medical colleges in Hubli and Bellary, he said.
