Badal charges Amarinder with misusing government funds

Jalandhar, Nov 6 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Parkash Singh Badal today accused Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh of gross misuse of government funds and asked the Election Commission (EC) for immediate enforcement of the model code of conduct in the state ahead of the assembly elections early next year.

Talking to UNI here, Mr Badal alleged the Chief Minister had been using the ''government funds like the Congress funds'' for brightening the prospects of the ruling party in the upcoming assembly elections.

Mr Badal said the government funds were meant for the public cause and the same could be utilised in accordance with accepted norms and rules.

''An overambitious Chief Minister cannot be given a free hand for wasting the government funds for the cause of ruling party,'' he said.

The former chief minister said that SAD had already made a formal representation before the EC to convey misdeeds and wrong actions being taken by Mr Singh ahead of the assembly elections.
