Arrest absconders, HC tells government

Patna, Nov 6 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the state government to constitute Special Task Force (STF) to arrest more than 5000 absconders, wanted in connection with kidnapping and extortion cases by the end of this year.

Hearing a public interest litigation case, a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha directed the state Chief Secretary to file an affidavit within two weeks, stating details about the action plan of the government to effectively deal with the cases of kidnapping and extortion.

Earlier, the petitioner informed the court that state police had failed to arrest about 5000 absconders wanted in connection with kidnapping and extortion cases.
