Apang urges Centre for spl attention to Arunachal

Itanagar, Nov 06: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has urged the Centre to give special attention for the overall economic development of the state.

Mr Apang, at a three-day Buddha Mohatsava at Tawang, yesterday urged the Centre to consider the waiving off the population criteria while allocating developmental funds keeping in view the difficult terrain, topography and sparsh population of the state, official sources here today said.

''Since our's is one of the resourceful states, allocation of such plan fund should not be merely on population but be on need basis,'' Mr Apang said.

Such allocation would enable the state government to explore and exploit the vast hidden natural resources for the well-being of the people, he added.

Commenting on the mega tourism event, Mr Apang further said Tawang is the center of Mahayana Buddhism and holds a vital place in the Buddhist cultural and spiritual history of the country.

The Chief Minister also said, the state offers not only offers spiritual treasures but also had immense scenic beauty to develop tourism.
