Amnesty for traders, unauthorised construction:BJP

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) The BJP today said that the Government had no option but to bring in an Ordinance to provide amnesty to shop-owners and traders in residential areas following the Supreme Court's adherence to its earlier order on sealings in the capital.

''There should be no delay in issuing an Ordinance to provide succour to about five lakhs traders, including those who had filed affidavits in the Court to maintain peace in Delhi,'' BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

He also demanded that the Government must announce the Delhi Master Plan 2021 including all provisions to ensure that such a situation was not arisen in future.

"The SC's order is definitely likely to cause turmoil in the capital and the Centre should waste no more time in providing amnesty to such traders as was done in the case of black money," he said.

Squarely blaming the UPA Government, the Shiela Dikshit government in Delhi and also the Urban Development Ministry, Mr Javadekar said the BJP had been suggesting to the Government that an one time amnesty would be the only solution to the present impasse over the sealing of unauthorised shops in residential areas and unauthorised construction but their demand was always ignored by the Government.

"We have failed to understand why the Government had faulted so long in providing one-time amnesty and announce Delhi Master Plan 2021. We doubt the Government's sincerity in providing any relief to the five lakh traders," he added.
