ACR welcomes AAPSU's decision to call off bandh
Itanagar, Nov 06: Arunachal Citizens' Right (ACR) has welcomed the decision of All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) to call off its proposed 12-hour Capital bandh tomorrow.
ACR Chairman Bamang Anthony in a release here today said such bandh affects the innocent people, particularly daily wage earners.
He also said the government has assured AAPSU to issue a 'blanket ban' on all illegal appointments in Group A and B posts within one month.
Mr Anthony claimed that the government had not prioritised to resolve the current demand of the educated unemployed youths for immediate cancellation of the illegal appointments of more than 17 Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs).
Mere assurance of a 'blanket ban' may convince the student leaders but is against the directives of the Gauhati High Court, he pointed out while referring to a PIL during 2001.
Mr Anthony further alleged that out of many assurances given by the state government to the student body in the past, only a few have materialised while most of them were only on papers.
