200 incubators by end of XI Plan: Official

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) Department of Science and Technology (DST) Advisor H K Mittal today said the DST would set up 200 business incubators by the end of XI Plan to promote entrepreneurs in the country.

Speaking to newsmen here on the sidelines of participating in the second 'Global Forum on Business: Empowering Economy through ICT, Innovation and Entrepreneurship,' organised jointly by the DST and Information for Development Programme (InfoDev) for the World Bank, Mr Mittal said the cost of the setting up of each incubator was around Rs two to four crore.

At present six incubators established by the DST had promoted 1,600 entrepreneurs and another 1000 undergoing training. The first incubator was set up in 2000.
