Tragedy averted in Kashmir; IED defused

Srinagar, Nov 5 (UNI) Security forces averted a major tragedy today with the timely detection of a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants on the Srinagar-Gulmarg road.

Police said troops of 313 Artillery Regiment, during a search operation at Ferozepora under the Tangmarg police station in Baramulla district, noticed a container lying on the roadside.

On thorough search of the conatiner, the troops detected the powerful IED. The time device was planted by militants to target the security forces who were deployed in strength and frequent the Srinagar-Gulmarg road.

Police said troops of 6 Engineers of the Army later defused the IED without causing any damage to life and property.
