Tension prevails as illegal huts are removed

Tirupati, Nov 5 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Vedhanthapuram when Revenue officials removed illegally constructed huts, put up on government lands, with the help of the police near here today.

About 50 persons were arrested and section 144 was imposed in the trouble area as precautionary measures, police said.

Police said amid tight security more than 100 huts put up illegally were removed from allegedly encroached government lands by the revenue department.

They occupied the lands last year and one P Prasad constructed a pucca building in the government lands, a top revenue official said.
