Tech Madhu to be arrested in Chennai, Mahabubnagar
Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 5 (UNI) Srinivasa Reddy alias Tech Madhu, who allegedly manufactured and supplied rocket launchers to the Maoists, would be arrested at Mahabubnagar and Chennai where there were pending cases against him, the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police said at a press conference today.
Tech Madhu and his wife Sudha Rani had surrendered before the Warangal police yesterday and were later shifted to Mahabubnagar district.
Initially the DGP said Tech Madhu had not surrendered but was arrested and rehabilitation package was available only to surrendered naxalites. When asked about the statement of the Warangal Range DIG yesterday that the couple had surrendered, the DGP said ''he was also correct''.
He said Madhu had surrendered in Warangal as there were no case against him in the district.
Calling upon the Maoists and other insurgent groups to give up their arms and join the mainstream, he said they should remember that Communism had collapsed in the USSR and Naxalites had joined social service in Nepal.
Stating that Naxalism and Maoism were outdated concepts, he said the outlook towards these concepts was changing all over the world and the Maoists would be left behind unless they too change.
According to sources, a formal arrest would be shown in Mahabubnagar and Chennai against Tech Madhu and the cases would be withdrawn later as he had surrendered.
Earlier, the DGP has laid foundation stone for the forensic lab coming up here.
