Suvarna Kannada writers' conference in Mysore from Nov 6
Mysore, Nov 5 (UNI) The Department of Kuvempu Kannada Study Centre of the University of Mysore is organising a three-day Suvarna Kannada writers' conference here from November 6.
Addressing media persons here, varsity Vice-Chancellor Prof J Shashidhar Prasad said the conference was being organised after a gap of 40 years in the university on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebrations of Karnataka's formation. Over 100 writers from across the state, experts and scholars were expected to participate in the conference, which would have five sessions, including Kannada, achievements and challenges of the government and cultural heritage of the state. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would inaugurate the conference.
During the occasion, the University planned to bring out editions of the epigraphy of Karnataka and encyclopaedia of the university, which was in great demand, he added.
Prof Prasad said the University was also planning to organise a three-day All India Folklore Conference from December 1 and an All India Dravidan Conference of Linguistics in June next year.
Asked if the varsity would undergo a name change following the state government's move to rename the city as Mysooru, he totally ruled out any such change.
