Seven shops gutted in Rekong Peo

Shimla, Nov 5 (UNI) At least seven shops were guttered in a devastating fire that broke out in Rekong Peo, district headquarter of Kinnuar district, of Himachal Pradesh last night, but no loss of life was reported, police sources today said.

Property estimated to be worth several lakhs was destroyed in the fire, which gutted seven shops in a three-storey building in the town, after breaking out at about 2030 hrs last evening.

The sources said fire and ITBP personnel battled with fire for over two hours before bringing it under control.

The shops in the adjoining areas were vacated after the fire began to minimise losses in the incident, which the sources said, was being ascertained.

The sources said power supply in the town was cut off after the incident to prevent the spread of fire, adding that a case has been registered and investigations were on.
