SEC countermand Gonda Nagar Palika polls: bandh tomorrow
Lucknow, Nov 5 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has countermanded the elections of Gonda Nagar Palika Parishad even as the Congress and BJP have opposed the decision and called for 'Gonda Bandh' tomorrow.
SEC sources here today said the decision to countermand the elections was taken after a detail probe following a recommendation by the Gonda District Magistrate.
The Gonda DM had said that silent rigging and booth capturing was witnessed in the Nagar Palika Parishad polls held on October 28 last.
In the Gonda Nagar Palika Parishad, there are 27 wards and a post of a chairman.
Meanwhile, a report from Gonda said that a 'bandh' has been called by BJP and Congress leaders tomorrow to protest against the countermanding of the elections. They have alleged that the DM had recommended countermanding the polls on the direction of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
