Sangrur leads in paddy arrival in North West region
Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) Sangrur district was leading in paddy arrivals in Punjab and the entire North West region, with 21.42 lakhs tonnes having arrived in the mandis of the district till yesterday evening, an official spokesman here today stated.
Ludhiana district was second with 15.38 lakh tonnes having arrived in the mandis of this district.
According to official figures released today, 120.43 lakh tonnes of paddy had arrived in various mandis of Punjab so far as against about 123.77 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
Out of the total arrivals, 27.84 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured by Pungrain, 21.29 lakh tonnes by Markfed, 26.53 lakh tonnes by Punsup, 11.51 lakh tonnes by Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, and 13.17 lakh tonnes by Punjab Agro Industries Corporation.
Food Corporation of India had purchased 2.26 lakh tonnes while 17.80 lakh tonnes was procured by the private millers and traders.
UNI HS VD PM1903 Giving more details Mr. Lal Singh said that He further said that Grade 'A' variety of Paddy arrived in various mandis of the state was 11942739 tones, while common variety of Paddy arrived in mandis was 100719 tonnes.
