PESO to set up offices to facilitate explosive licence

Chennai, Nov 5 (UNI) The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), Nagpur, would establish its regional offices at Coimbatore and Vellore shortly to help the people from South India receive their explosive licences in a short period.

Speaking after receiving the ''Life Time Achievement Award'' instituted by Lions Club of Teynampet here recently, PESO Chief Mr M Anbunathan said at present, those who applied for explosive licences and NOC from the PESO for their new venture, are required to go to Nagpur, which would not only be expensive, but time consuming, too. To avoid this, the company planned to establish their offices at Coimbatore and Vellore, he added.

Mr Anbunathan said the PESO would also establish a sophisticated explosive testing lab at Sivakasi, in Tamil Nadu, where a large number of cracker and fire works manufacturing units were located to test the tolerable rate of decibles and quality of the crackers, as well as fire works, he added.

Speaking on the occassion, Sri Ram, President of Lions Club of Teynampet, said the club would establish a free hospital at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh at suburban Maduvai to help the poor and downtrodden.
