Mysterious disease affects pigs in Kodagu
Madikeri, Nov 5 (UNI) Around 25 pigs have died due to a mysterious disease in Kodagu district of Karnataka in the last two months, triggering panic among the Kodavas who consume pork regularly.
Veterinary department sources here said that as there was no competent lab to ascertain the cause of the disease in the state, samples were being sent to Ijath Nagar lab in North India for testing.
Pigs here had developed a strange disease in July last too and a lab in Bangalore had ruled it out to be Throat fever. Though the disease had subsided with time, it had returned to the rural areas now.
