Migratory birds start arriving at Shivpuri lake
Shivpuri, MP, Nov 5: As the winter season sets in, migratory birds are starting to arrive near Sakhya Sagar lake in the Madhav National Park in this district.
Traversing several thousand miles in search of less cold regions, the birds stay on till the onset of summer. During this period, the visitors gather around the lake and perform cacophony.
Instead of deep water, these birds prefer shallow water, as their food such as worms and small fish are found here.
Besides the Madhav National park, a large number of birds come to Dehaya lake in Karera sanctuary, while some birds set up their homes near ponds in forests.
The inflow of tourists also increases courtesy gathering of migratory birds, with over 200 species from foreign countries such as Russia, Siberia, Georgia and other cold countries.
Sometimes migratory birds lay eggs during their stay and return home with their offsprings.
