J'hand agricultural college celebrates 50 yrs
Ranchi, Nov 5 (UNI) The Ranchi Agricultural college, the only agriculture college in Jharkhand, would start its golden jubilee celebrations from tomorrow.
The achievements of Ranchi University includes release of several high yeilding crops varieties, its improved farms and establishment of medium range weather forecasting system.
Outlining the achievements of the institution Dean of Agriculture Faculty A K Sarkar told UNI that the college had also conducted various extension programmes for the farmers to teach them about the latest agricultural techniques and effective control of crop pests and disease.
Mr Sarkar said the farmer participatory research through 33 National Agriculture Technology Projects (NATP) by the scientist of the university has also received wide appreciation throughout the country.
He said the list of high yeilding crops included Birsa Dhan-101 to 108 in which last variety has been considered as earliest maturing variety in upland area.
Similarly, Birsa Bold a groundnut variety was considerd as best confectionery variety of India by agricularal ministry in 1995.
