Farmers' agitation against Reliance-Gail pipeline

Thane, Nov 5: Several hundreds of farmers took out a march to the office of the Talasari Tehasildar, during the weekend to protest the ongoing work of laying of gas pipeline by GAIL and Reliance.

A delegation of the farmers presented a memorandum to the local Tehasildar listing the various demands of the farmers of the region.

Addressing the agitating tribal farmers Thane District BJP President Mr Wanga warned that if the demands, including a reappraisal of the compensation deal fixed at 10 per cent of the land price, are not met then a rasta roko will follow.
