Double blasts kill eight in Asom
Guwahati, Nov 5 (UNI) At least eight people were killed and 25 injured, many of them seriously, as the ULFA rebels struck terror blasting two powerful bombs in quick succession in commercial hub of Guwahati city this evening.
Official sources said a powerful bomb was exploded at the crowded Jai hanuman road, which is the wholesale market of perishable goods at 1835 hours.
A second blast at Pathhar Kuwari in Narengi in the outskirts of the Guwahati city where 3 persons injured seriously.
Most of the casualties were from the first blast where limbs and blood of the victims littered around the market, a supply hub of perishable goods to entire northeast.
Police were yet to compile casualty details of teh blasts.
However, the injured 25 people, mostly receved severe burn wounds, were shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
Police said it was not yet known whether the bomb was planted or thrown by somebody.
Police, however, confirmed that the intensity of the bomb, looking at the damage, was more than the standard of the ULFA blasts. Police also informed that ULFA targeted the Fancy Bazar as a retaliation to the killing of its second most important ground level commander by the security forces on Saturday near Moran in Upper Asom.
