Dasgupta opposes death sentence to Saddam

Jamshedpur, Nov 5 (UNI) CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta today opposed the death sentence to Saddam Hussein by an Iraqi court and urged the case be referred to an International court.

Terming the death sentence to the former Iraqi president as ''caricature and mockery of American justice'', Mr Dasgupta, MP and a member of the central committee of the CPI, quipped it was not justice ''but an order of the US president George Bush.'' Mr Dasgupta said the verdict had proved the ''imperial face'' of the US and demanded immediate withdrawl of the death sentence.
