CPI(M) denies claim of Minister's FIL
Puducherry, Nov 5 (UNI) Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today refuted the claim of Harikrishnan, the father of Social Welfare Minister P Angalan's wife Kavipriya, that his daughter was abducted by the CPI(M) activists.
Talking to newspersons here, Party Secretary, V Perumal said there was no need for the party to abduct Kavipriya and in fact she only came to the party, seeking protection and justice, since many others had foresaken her.
Kavipriya is now under the custody of the women's wing of the party and added that no special consideration was given to her being the minister's wife, she added.
Mr Perumal wondered whether Mr Harikrishnan had levelled this allegation against the CPI(M) with full sense. Kavipriya wanted to live in the house of her sister and sought police protection, he added.
Police, however, failed to provide protection to her yet. The minister had committed an offence, which need to be booked under the Domestic Violence Act, he added.
Earlier, Kavipriya sought police protection alleging that she was being tortured by the minister, following her objection to his third marriage. Following her complaint to the Lt Governor, Chief Minister, N Rangasamy and top police officals, police booked a case under section 498(a) IPC againt him, who later filed a petition, seeking anticipatory bail and also moved the family court for divorce.
Kavipriya's father, however, alleged yesterday that she was abducted by the CPI(M). The problems could be amicably settled, if she was rescued from the party, he added.
