Consignment of banned cough syrup seized
Aizawl, Nov 5 (UNI) The Mizoram Drugs Controller wing of the health department seized a consignment of banned cough syrup here last night.
Police sources here today said the consignment, under the brand name of C-KOF, was sent to a medicine shop, owned by the son of the president of Mizoram Drugs Wholesalers Association.
Acting on a tip-off, drugs control department officials raided the godown of Road King Transport and seized 3,500 bottles of the cough syrup in 100-ml containers, source said.
Drug Control officials stated that the documents revealed the consignee was located on Hospital Road in the city and during search in the medicine shop, another 2,500 bottles of the same cough syrup was found.
Officials further informed the drugs licence of the shop had been cancelled earlier on account of violating drugs laws but it was revoked later.
