CLP assures Modi of expansion of Phagutane power plant
Ahmedabad, Nov 5 (UNI) The Managing Director of the China Light and Power (CLP) Limited today met Chief Minister Narendra Modi and assured him that the CLP which is operating a 655 MW plant in Phagutane near Surat in South Gujarat, will go ahead with its expansion plans.
He also said it will be deploying environment-friendly technology to bring down pollution levels.
The CM visited the plant site of CLP, biggest player in power generation sector in China and Hongkong. It provide 80 per cent of Hongkong's requirements.
Mr Modi also held parleys with officials of the Chinese Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, and discussed plans for progress of the gas pipeline distribution project in Gujarat.
The Bureau which handles 40,000-km long gas distribution network in China, already has an agreement with the Reliance for developing the 1800-km long pipeline network from KG basin to Gujarat.
The Bureau expressed interest to have a long term partnerpship with Gujarat which is fast emerging as a major petro player, a government statement said today.
In another development, Pharma major Torrent group inked an agreement with China's Tas Li Limited, whereby it will sell its products in India in the presence of the Chief Minister.
Mr Modi also met Tianjin Governor Yuth Mu Chin met and invited him to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat celebrations in January.
They spoke about possibilities of strengthening economic ties between China and Gujarat.
