Buddha's teaching more relevant today: UP Governor

Varanasi, Nov 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar today called upon people to follow the spartan path shown by Buddha as his teachings had become more relevant in a world threatned by terrorism.

Addressing the grand international Buddhist gathering at Sarnath here to mark 2550th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha and the 75th anniversary of Mulgandha Kuti Vihara, Mr Rajeswar said at a time when the world was facing the menace of terrorism Buddha's teachings had become more relevant.

''Buddha's time tested belief of non-violence and penance was more relevant in the age when the hydra-headed menace of terrorism was raising its ugly head across the world,'' Mr Rajeswar maintained.

Earlier, Assistant General Secretary of Mahabodhi Society of India K Siri Sumedha Thero welcomed the guests.
