Belgium PM calls for more cooperation with India

Bangalore, Nov 5 (UNI) Belgium Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt who is on a two-day state visit to Karnataka, today called for more cooperation between India and his country in harnessing the cutting-edge technologies which derives benefit to both the countries.

Speaking after witnessing the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between SemIndia, a state-of-art Semiconductor Company in India, with Belgium's IMEC, a world-leading independent research center in nanoelectronics and nanotechnolgy to engage a semiconductor collaboration, Mr Guy Verhofstadt said, ''World Economy is a huge cake and can grow bigger if we can work together and if we do so both of us can derive benefit from it''.

Describing the MOU signed between top companies of India and his country which would help to build a semiconductor fab in Hyderabad to work together on the next generation's semiconductor process technologies as a 'fine moment between both the countries,' he said it would enable to use each others talent and opportunities to move forward.

Describing IMEC as one of the top institutions of higher technologies in Belgium, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the signing of MoU to work together with SemIndia which is also an institutite of high reputation in India would benefit each other.
