8 killed in twin blasts in Guwahati
Guwahati, Nov 5 (UNI) At least eight person were killed as the ULFA today struck in the heart of Guwahati city this evening.
According to official source, a bomb exploded at 1835 hours in the crowded Jai Hanuman road, which is the wholesale hub of perishable goods of the entire North east.
There was also a second blast at Pathhar Kuwari in Narengi at the outskirts of the Guwahati city where three persons where serious injured. However the impact of the first blast was very severe as it took place in the busiest localities of the entire city and at the prime time.
At least 25 persons received serious injuries and the entire area was covered with blood and severed limbs of the deceased. It was not yet known whether the bomb was planted or thrown by somebody.
The police, however, confirmed that intensity of the bomb, as evinced by the damage was more than the standard for ULFA. The police also informed that ULFA targeted the Fancy Bazar as a retaliation to the killing of their second most important ground level commander by the security forces on Saturday last near Moran in Upper Asom.
The inured were shifted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital as the entire Fancy bazaar looked like a bombed zone with hundreds of vehicles were seen trying to escape from the scene only to face a huge traffic jam. Traffic movement in the entire Guwahati city has literally come to a halt.
