Walkout in MP Assy over Uma issue

Bhopal, Nov 2 (UNI) The entire Opposition staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today after being dissatisfied with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's rejection of a demand for a CBI probe into an alleged assault on Bharatiya Jan Shakti Founder-President Uma Bharti.

Replying to a discussion on an adjournment motion by the opposition, Mr Chouhan claimed that the government displayed no laxity whatsoever vis-a-vis Ms Bharti's security details.

''Ms Bharti enjoys Z plus security,'' he indicated.

During the discussion, fiery exchanges took place and unparliamentary words were expunged by Speaker Ishwar Das Rohani.

Responding to former chief minister Digvijay Singh's question about the Superintendent of Police, Chhatarpur, stopping Ms Bharti's security guards, Mr Chouhan said, ''as per the Election Commission's directives, the armed guards were prevented from entering polling centres.

''I have a compact disc containing proof of Ms Bharti's terror tactics and am willing to present it in the House. After viewing the CD, if the Opposition wishes then an inquiry committee may be formed,'' he suggested.
