Swedish design major Caran opens office in India
Bangalore, Nov 2 (UNI) Caran Designs, a Sweden based engineering design and vehicle development concern today opened its Bangalore Office, the first in Asia, to offer futuristic engineering design development in Automotive, Aerospace, Telecom, Life Sciences and other niche areas.
Briefing news persons on the companies initiative, Caran Designs President Mats Rogbrand said, ''To us India is not a low-cost country but a high-tech market. This is not a off shoring venture but the company had come to India to create a solid base for long term relations with leading actors in Asia's most exciting marketplace.'' Caran planned to employ 100 engineers by the end of next year and outline a staff of 300 by the end of 2009. It sought engineers in design, mechanical engineering, simulations and surfacing besides technical project management and production specialists, he said.
Barun Kumar, Country Manager said the company intends to provide best tools for the top class Indian technicians as the company had on an international basis, a close cooperation with leading suppliers of CAD-systems and software tooks for ergonomics, design and acoustics.
Mr Rogbrand said internationally Caran worked with Volvo Cars, Volvo trucks, Saab, Scania, Sony Ericcon, Electrolux, Airbus and Bombardier Transportation. Caran was one of the members of the Logica CMG group which employed 40,000 worldwide and 2500 in Bangalore, mainly active in IT sector, he added.
